Meet Kristel

My path into this work was shaped by my own personal experiences and a lifelong passion for understanding addiction, mental wellness and seeking balance and harmony through energy work and re-connecting with my culture. I am a qualified psychotherapist with a masters degree in social work (Clinical Specialization - Adult Mental Health and Addiction) from the University of Calgary. I am also a master level certified Reiki practitioner trained in the Usui Shiki Ryoho system of healing, with a deep commitment to supporting others on their healing journey. 

I previously served as an Addiction Counsellor and later as Director of Inpatient Services at Sunrise Healing Lodge Society (addiction treatment center in Calgary AB) providing cultural and holistic recovery support. I volunteer in the community as an executive board member with the Foundation for Addiction and Mental Healthand previously as a co-moderator for a peer support group specifically geared towards addiction recovery from a holistic perspective. My practice has grown to provide services with Miskanawah Healing Lodge (Nanatawiho Kamik) ; Noojimo Health ; and as an Affiliate with Health Upwardly Mobile. The culmination of my experiences formed the foundation of my practice; that true well-being comes from addressing the whole person viewing the mind, body, heart, spirit, and community as interwoven. I bring empathy, compassion, and intuition into every session. Clients often describe me as warm, grounded, and easy to talk to. This work is not just my profession - it’s my calling.
