My Approach
I work with individuals who are experiencing:
Addiction involving substances (e.g., alcohol, drugs) and behaviors (e.g., gambling, issues around food, sex, love, relationships, technology…etc.)
Mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, shame, stress, mood swings or emotional overwhelm, feeling numb or disconnected
Changes in behavior or relationships
Disrupted sleep, eating, or intimacy
Feeling lost or uncertain about life
Psychotherapy offers a compassionate space to:
Explore the interconnected layers of addiction and mental health, enhance self-awareness and personal responsibility
Develop emotional regulation and self compassion
Rebuild trust in oneself and in relationships
Reconnect with values and meaning
Support long-term healing through connection, insight, and accountability
Addiction and mental health challenges can affect anyone. They are often rooted in deep and interconnected layers - biological, psychological, social, and spiritual. In my practice, I honour this complexity by using a whole-person approach along with clinical knowledge and a trauma-informed lens to explore personal issues. I draw on evidence-based practices - such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy - while weaving in Indigenous values like balance, connection, and harmony. I may also use energy work to support healing and wholeness in the mind, body, and spirit.
Whether you're looking to work through specific issues or simply create more balance in your life, I provide a compassionate and non-judgmental environment.
If you’d like to learn more—or are already feeling a shift within that’s asking for care, honesty, and deeper clarity in your recovery—I welcome you to reach out.
Addiction is Characterized by:
A. Inability to consistently Abstain;
B. Impairment in Behavioral control;
C. Craving;
D. Diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships; and
E. A dysfunctional Emotional response
Addiction can affect many parts of a person’s life - how they think, feel, relate to others, and connect with themselves. Recovery isn’t just about stopping a behavior; it’s about understanding and healing these layers with care and support. Working with me, people begin to make sense of their experiences in a balanced and consistent way. Over time, they often notice a stronger sense of self, more clarity about their needs, and implement healthier boundaries in their relationships, with themselves, and within their environment. Compassion grows where shame once lived, and recovery becomes not just about getting through each day, but about reconnecting with purpose, resilience, and a deeper sense of belonging. I support you with understanding what Addiction is and how it manifests in your life so that you can create lasting change.
Usui Reiki
In addition to talk therapy, I offer Reiki to support emotional balance, nervous system regulation, and a sense of wholeness. For many, this complements psychotherapy by helping release what is held in the body that no longer serves you.
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or hands-above) energy healing practice that supports all aspects of one's being - body, mind and spirit. Rooted in the Usui Japanese tradition, Reiki roughly translates to “Universal Life-Force Energy”. “Rei” is translated as the ‘wisdom and knowledge of all the universe’ and “Ki” is the life-force energy that flows through every living being. It is based on the understanding that life energy flows through the body. When this energy is disrupted - due to stress, trauma, illness, or emotional challenges - it can contribute to imbalance or distress. Reiki works to clear and realign this energy along the meridian and chakra system by supporting the body and mind in returning to a more regulated and grounded state for the energy to flow more freely.
What to Expect
During a Reiki session, you remain fully clothed and either lie down or sit comfortably. I use light touch or hover my hands above specific areas of the body to encourage energetic flow and release. Each session is deeply individualized—some people feel sensations of warmth or tingling, others experience emotional release, a sense of peace, or simply deep relaxation.
Benefits of Reiki
Reiki can be a powerful complement to talk therapy, particularly for those carrying stress, trauma, or emotion in the body. It may support:
Emotional release and balance
Reduced anxiety and overwhelm
Nervous system regulation
Reconnection with body and spirit, raising your vibration
Grounding after intense therapeutic work
Enhanced clarity, calm, and inner peace
Reiki is available as a stand-alone session or can be integrated into a psychotherapy session, depending on your needs and preferences. It offers a effective non-verbal, holistic pathway to healing.
